I knew I’d found my paradise when I used the reception toilet
and found Dove liquid soap adorning the wall. Here we spoilt
ourselves (Ok Frank spoilt me!) and stayed in a luxury 5 star
lodge.
Now, by SA standards, I wouldn’t call it ‘luxury’ as such,
however the addition of a mosquito net was a welcomed touch.
It’s more luxurious than Guinjata in that it’s certainly not as
rustic; the lodges are beautiful yet simple in decoration.
What to expect?
- 5 star luxury accommodation
- Private little beach huts (when I say little, I mean
LITTLE!)
- Searing heat, we’re talking 45 degrees in the shade. The
sea is like a hot bath. You can run my friends, but you
definitely cannot hide. No-body told you that your African
Island Paradise had water this hot.
- Awesome island scenery, beach front recliner chairs
under straw umbrellas that face Bazaruto, Benguira and
Margaruque islands
- Friendly and humble staff
- Locals selling their souvenirs who idle past you with
huge smiles adorning their faces.
- Water Activities (boat rides to the islands,
windsurfing)
- Domino’s. After a solid week, I’ll take anyone on.
Amusement Factor?
The 5 local dogs, who meet at the resort entrance each day,
trundle single file through the main entrance, through the guest
lounge, run down to the beach and frolic in the waves.
One of them suggests it’s home time and the process is reversed
with great excitement.
Cost?
R500 per person per night, on a ‘Bed and Breakfast’ basis.
C’mon! you can’t afford not to visit the romantic playground of
Mozambique! Don’t forget to return armed with souvenirs, hand
crafted by the talented and artistic locals!
